Cómo hacer un comedero para pájaros - How to make a bird table

Me encanta la ornitología. Cuando iba a la universidad, hace mucho tiempo, salía al campo con mis amigas buscando bichos. Los que mejor se podían ver eran los pájaros. Como últimamente estoy muy casera he construido un comedero para pájaros para que vengan a comer y así poder verlos tranquilamente mientras trabajo. Tardaron 2 semanas en venir a comer, pero al fin llegaron....

I love birdwatching. When I was in college, long time ago, my friends and I used to go to the countryside looking for animals. The easiest to find were birds. Lately I have been feeling like being at home so I made a bird table to feed the birds and watch them while working. It took them two weeks to feel confident enough to come and use it. It was worth the wait:

Lo primero, las medidas de las distintas piezas (en cm.). Esta es mi interpretación:

First of all, measures of the different pieces (in cm.). This is my interpretation:

 A continuación, cortar la madera contrachapada (1 cm. de espesor) en las distintas partes.

 Then, cut the plywood (1 cm thick) in the different parts,

Dar color y una mano de aceite de linaza para prevenir el moho.

Color the pieces and use linseed oil to prevent mildew.

 

Pegar las partes leaterales

Glue the sidepieces

  

 Asegurarlos con tornillos, secure them with screws

Atornillar los laterales a la base, screw the sides to the base

Pegar y atornillar el tejado, glue and screw the roof

Se pegan unos listones en la base para que los pájaros puedan posarse, dejando espacio en las esquinas para poder limpiar el comedero.
Wood strips are glued to the base leaving a space in the corners for cleaning.

Me está gustando mucho el hacer este comedero yo misma. Es muy gratificante aunque el resultado final no sea perfecto!!!
Loving the feeling of doing things myself. It´s very rewarding even if the final result is not perfect!!!

Nuestros jabones artesanales - Our homemade soaps

Después de ver el interés de algunas amigas por estos jabones artesanales que hicimos el año pasado, nos animamos a hacer más. Ha pasado tiempo y tenemos curiosidad de ver si podemos mejorarlos. Conseguir el color no es fácil. Quedaron bonitos, o por lo menos eso nos pareció para ser la primera vez, pero destiñeron mucho al tener gran cantidad de colorante. Veremos que nos depara este nuevo intento, ¿habremos aprendido la lección?.

We want to make handmade soaps again. It´s been a while since we made them so we are curious to see if we can improve. It is not easy to get the right color. They came out kind of pretty but they stain, too much dye!. We will see what happens this time. Have we learned our lesson??
